Tanzania, Africa Students Visit CCI

Yesterday, 13 students and 2 Sisters from the Henry Gogarty All-Girls School in Tanzania, Africa arrived at Cobourg Collegiate Institute for a 15-day educational trip to Canada. The students and Sisters traveled over 36 hours to visit CCI and experience Canadian culture.

CCI is proud to welcome our special international guests, and we have several events planned to support and celebrate their visit. On April 4, 2018, from 7- 9 pm, CCI will host its first ever “Coffee House” in support of the Henry Gogarty All Girls School. This variety show in CCI’s cafeteria will feature Honey Soul, Hill and Landing, and other talented students.

Admission to the “Coffee House” is by donation (suggested is 3 dollars) and a silent auction will be set up for additional fundraising. Coffee, hot chocolate and sweets will be served during the show.

“CCI welcomes the community to come out and enjoy this show in support of these girls. It also will be a great opportunity to meet them. The students are on a trip of a lifetime, and are very excited to learn about our culture and school life” said Jeff Kawzenuk, Principal of CCI.

Since 2004, Jeff Kawzenuk, Stephen Truelove, and KPR students have traveled to Tanzania Africa to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDs orphans. Last year, the group attended Henry Gogarty All-Girls School and returned the invitation to come to Canada.

The girls will explore different program areas while attending different classes at CCI in addition to visiting, Toronto and Niagara Falls. For more information, please call CCI at 905-372-2271.
