A search and rescue operation had a happy ending Thursday afternoon. Cobourg Fire, police and EMS were called to the area of Hibernia and Third streets in Cobourg for a report of a missing person on Lake Ontario around 2:25 p.m. Emergency reports initially indicated a “sailor” went missing on the lake and was presumed to be underwater for about “15 minutes” by the time police and fire arrived at the marina According to fire officials, a wind surfer ran into trouble while on the lake. The man was located safe and sound shortly after emergency service arrived and the call was ordered to stand down.
